Korean is Not New Anymore

...But still one of the fastest growing global phenomena to hit the pop culture scene today, especially in Malaysia.

9 years ago, I was like those youngsters now, crazy over Korean stuffs.

But do you know how hard it is to find a CD of my beloved korean bands in Malaysia?

9 years ago, it wasn't a popular thing to study Korean.

9 years ago, not many knows who the hell Dong Bang Shin Gi , Super Junior is.

9 years ago, no one knows that SM trainee Girls Generation (some of the member) were going to be such a hit NOW.

9 years ago, there were merely a few people who rocks with me along the song from Shinhwa, H.O.T., G.O.D, Rain, Se7en, BoA etc.

6 years ago, no one knew Dong Bang Shin Gi (TVXQ) actually came to Malaysia for SMART uniform commerical shoot.

4 years ago, things were getting easier. You get to find their CDs, although not new, but at least there are, some..very few popular ones.

4 years ago, Korean learning was much easier to find.

4 years ago, online korean forums in Malaysia was getting more and more.

4 years ago, no many are crazy about Big Bang nor Battle.

4 years ago, no one knew that EVE actually came to Malaysia.

3 years ago, Dong Bang Shin Gi (TVXQ) marked as the first korean band to Malaysia for their concert.

3 years ago, Chang Min was just walking right in front of me and I don't think I'll ever had the chance anymore.

3 years ago, Super Junior was rehearsing at Putrajaya but not many fan crowds were there.

Within half a year NOW, all dance presentations in my university I see are mostly Korean dances.

Songs played during course nights are mostly Korean songs.

Everyone is going Dong Bang Shin Gi here, Suju there..or Shinee here F.T. Island there.. Or wondergirls here, SNSD there..and they start to dig out great singers/bands too, like SS501 (Thanks to Boys Over Flowers Drama), Yangpa, Kang-ta, Epik High, CSJH, 2am, 2pm, MC Mong, Eru, KARA, or even old extinct ones like Baby V.O.X and H.O.T.

The korean wave (hallyu) in Malaysia is very high tide now.

9 years ago, barely any of my friends know about any Korean entertainment scene, except "Autumn in my heart" drama.

9 years later (now), seems like everyone knows at least the most popular korean entertainment group.

Now, even if they played Japanese songs, those are songs which are sang by Korean who produced japanese albums in order to reach that market.

Korean is not new anymore.

Yet, I still love korean entertainment. And I always salute to their numbers of booming new bands and new dramas in such a short time where all are also versatile in singing and dancing and acting at least; yet still surviving. Korea has a very great entertainment industry. ;)
